After tweeting out the possibility of starting a book club, I was happy to see the idea get a warm reception. I couldn’t stop thinking about it later that night, so I thought I’d share my vision for the project and see what interested members think.
Pin Your Suggestions
I started a Pinterest Board called “Summer 2016 Reading List.” I thought we’d start with a book a month over the summer. Once I’ve added you as a board collaborator, start pinning your reading suggestions. It’s okay if there is duplicate suggestions. That might even make the decision for final selections easier.
Complete the Survey
Once we’ve got a good number of suggestions, I’ll send out a survey of top choices. You’ll also be asked about best days and times for a half hour to an hour long Twitter chat.
Read the Book
Once I get the survey results, I’ll announce the book selection. We may even be able to choose four books out of one survey. That would cover May, June, July, and August. Each member is responsible for procuring their own copies of the book – so I’ll make sure to give everyone plenty of time to request it from the library. You’ll have approximately 30 days to read the book and form some insights and opinions about it.
Join the Chat
I’ll announce the day and time of each chat when I announce the book selections. Then, all you have to do is hop on Twitter and join the discussion by using the hashtag #pfbookchat. I’ll have some questions formulated to get us started, but you will be welcome to jump right in with any burning questions or white hot insights.
And that’s my vision. It, too, is open for collaboration.
